Roo's Rescues' Story

Roo's Rescues, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization located in Shelton, CT.   Operated by two friends, Julie Estrada and Jackie Trudell, Roo's Rescues began with the rescue of one tiny kitten, and has grown to become the second chance that countless animals have depended upon.  Working together with local rescues and shelters, Roo's Rescues takes in at-risk cats and dogs, providing them the loving care and socialization they so desperately deserve.   After a short stay with us, our animals are ready to find their "fur-ever" homes.

Julie Estrada is a Certified Veterinary Technician and owner of Paws & Claws Resort, a pet boarding and daycare business located in Shelton, CT.  Julie and her business partner, Jackie Trudell, a marketing professional in Shelton, started Roo's Rescues in 2016 with the mission of connecting abandoned pets with new loving human companions!

Rawley, or Roo to his friends, is our resident dog, mascot and best friend to all of his rescued pals!  Rescued from a high-kill shelter in 2006, Rawley was found wandering in a forest with little known about the first 3 years of his life.  He quickly adapted to life in a home, and now spends his days begging for belly rubs and one more treat.  Roo plays "Papa" to our young rescues, providing all of the kisses, cuddles and play sessions our new friends need!

Sadly, Roo passed away in 2019 after a long and happy life.  We miss him every day.  We will keep his memory alive by saving as many animals as we can and sharing the love he gave us with others.
